Meet the Director: Ludmilla B. Duston
Mrs. Duston started playing the violin and piano at the age of 9 in her home country, Moldova. She was later introduced to other string and various folk instruments.
She attended St. Neaga College and G. Musicescu Conservatory in Moldova before moving to the United States to attend Southeastern Louisiana University. She has earned three music degrees in the process (performance and pedagogy, Bachelor’s and Master’s). Mrs. Duston has performed with a youth orchestra, professional folk, chamber, string and symphony orchestras and various chamber groups across the former Soviet Union, Moldova, Europe and the United States. She has also had the privilege of performing in front of a King and a Queen, various other international dignitaries, and a president of the United States of America.
Mrs. Duston has taught Strings/Orchestra to all levels of students since the mid - 1990s. She has been serving as the Director of Orchestras at the Wakeland High School since 2008. Under her direction, the Wakeland High School Orchestra program has earned numerous commendable awards, while participating in various local, state and national competitions and festivals.
When away from school, Mrs. Duston likes to read, cook, spend time outdoors, attend concerts, spend time at home with family, and travel. Additionally, Mrs. Duston enjoys serving with the Music Ministry at Stonebriar Community Church as member of the Orchestra, along with performing as a freelance musician.
Mr. and Mrs. Duston reside in Frisco and are the proud parents of two wonderful sons.
